Stars and Planets

For Christmas I gave Jared a trip to the Chabot Planetarium in Oakland to see this cool light show. Unfortunately it was foggy and raining so we didn't get to look through the telescope but we looked at it.
Learning about the Universe.

Jared crawling out of a black hole. HAHAHAHHA.

This is Rachel the telescope.

Jared is nicely guiding his spacepod through the earth's atmosphere.

I almost crashed it.

Fun and Games

It all started with the BYU vs. Stanford Men's volleyball game. BYU won of course. Then the next day the Men from the Stanford 2nd Ward vs. the S.F. singles ward. Yes, I was a cheerleader. The one and only time it will ever happen. I joined in cartwheels, leapfrogging and jumping around. There was a lot of leg kicking and yelling. I showered myself with as many sparkles as possible.

The night of the game there was a homecoming dance and then people came over and Rob made us French Toast. A nice midnight snack.

Funny conversations with Adam.

Chillin' on Wrangler (that's the name of our couch.)

Peekaboo!

For Amanda's birthday Sam wanted to do tricks.

Sam doing the splits in the air.

Emily blowing fire with cornstarch.

I was trying to jump through my hands because I used to be able to do it.

Sam spotted me because I'm a bit clumsy.

Future Me

What do you think you'll be like in the future? Well, when you get to the future and forget what you'll be like in the past you can write yourself an email and ift will be sent to you in the future...up to 30 yrs from now. Cool eh? You can do it right here.

http://www.futureme.org/

So far I sent myself a note for next week. I'm still concocting my letter to myself in 30 yrs.

This will be me in 50 yrs. But I'll probably have bright red hair like my grandma did.....or maybe blue.

Lisa and Jill visit

Lisa and Jill (former college roommates) drove up from Santa Monica and brought their magic. On Saturday we wandered around S.F. Here we are in front of the Palace of Fine Arts. It was a beautiful, freezing, day.

Jill kept us constantly entertained with her fun humor.

Lisa, is so much fun and brightens up anyone's day with her big smile and glowing eyes.

I'm trying to be a swan.
We headed over to the sutro bath ruins. It was such a beautiful sunset.

Lisa and I were bundled up because it was unusually cold for S.F.

Then we were headed to the beach to burn Christmas trees. We happened to find one on the street in S.F. and I was determined to fit it in my car. Well, of course me Subaru is the coolest car on the planet and yes of course we got it to fit. Now my car smells really good.

10 Christmas trees created a roaring fire.

At the tree burning event I got to see my old friend Brant who I knew from painting class at BYU.

Here I am connecting Adam and Derek, new friends.

I had no idea that there was an apple named after me.

Jill and Lisa came home to my mama's house Sunday night and we played. It is clearly obvious that we have fun together.

Thursday Night

Several of you know that I like to start my weekends on Thursday night. I love Thursdays. I think it's because of the anticipation for the weekend. I had several options for last night. Movie--NAH, laundry--NAH, Justin Timberlake concert--wasn't in the mood. I decided to fill my cupboards with what little food I had since just moving into my new place. Well, I noticed quite quickly that most of my food was Hot Chocolate. Yup, it practically takes up my ENTIRE section. HA HA.

Then I decided to chill with my new roommates. Well, let me tell you that it was the right choice. There were lots of laughs. I taught Paige a fun way to dance around while letting your arms loose, they just flop around like you're a Raggedy Anne doll. Then she incorporated it into a fighting move.

Then Derek popped up with his truck load of Christmas trees that we're going to burn Saturday night....to be continued. He just bought the truck so Paige and I went for a ride in it. It only lasted about 2 blocks because we passed the cool girls house (Kim, Erika, Christina and Karen) which is just down the road and wanted to stop in.

Then we wanted to pretend that we were camping so I got out my new little lantern thingie that you screw to the top of any Nalgene bottle. After that I thought, I've got something even more awesome. Jared gave me the coolest Christmas present. A glow brick. It is so incredible. I put it in my window every morning and it captures the sunlight. Then at night it glows a really beautiful blue. I love it.

A perfect day to ski

We started off late Friday night for Tahoe. Tracy, Dave and Chris S. couldn't keep their eyes opened. Well it was well past midnight. I got really lucky because while we were walking from the parking lot to buy our tickets I found a discount coupon on the ground for $20 off the normal price. Pretty sweet eh?

I stayed awake to help keep Baker awake since he was driving and if you looked off to the right of hwy 50 it went straight down.

Here we are trying to get warm after arriving in 17˚ weather. I bought a new bright orange ski jacket so my friends could find me on the slopes. It worked.

Waking up to a beautiful day.

Laura and are very excited to ski for the first time this season.

The crew.

Nice outfit. I wish he were my ski buddy.

It was a perfect day to ski. Perfect weather, perfect snow and great company.

I took a brief nap while waiting for others to come down the mountain.

Getting Ready for the Slopes

This is how we get pumped for the slopes, by singing John Denver. It was Dave's suggestion, notice how halfway through the song he forgets the words. We stuck in some Offspring after this.

Christmas in New Jersey

Christmas in NJ

We all trekked out to New Jersey/ New York for Christmas this year. Christmas Eve was filled with dancing, singing and hot chocolate. Along with two little Shepherds running around. Christmas day began with Johnny waking me up, "Alice, today is a special Holiday. It's Merry Christmas, we get to open presents." He said it with tons of enthusiasm. The best party was in the midst of Johnny "helping" everyone open their presents he came to me and said with such conviction, "I love you Ala, I love you." The tears were from pure joy and laughter. He was certainly a joy to spend Christmas morning with.

Jared joined me in NJ for New Years. Despite not having his luggage for a few days he was a good sport. Johnny and Hudson really took to him and Johnny always wanted him to play with him, "Jarwed, where are you, do you want to play with me?"
We headed to the city and went up the Empire State Building and the Natural History Museum. Some good times wondering around the Big Apple.

Temple Lights

One can't miss the beautiful Oakland temple Christmas lights. It was nice to go since I hadn't seen the lights for a couple of years.

I LOVE stars!

Christmas Shopping

My mom and I headed to S.F. to do some Christmas shopping before the big crowds hit. Being in any big city with her is always a good time.

Isn't my mother darling?

Christmas Spirit

My cousins Emily and I went to a movie during our break since we're both teachers. Our purses have Christmas Spirit.

Nutcracker

For Christmas Jared surprised me with tickets to the Nutcracker in S.F. I have always wanted to see it ever since I played the music way back in Orchestra when I used to play the cello. So, naturally I got all dazzled up and we headed up to S.F. for a delightful evening in the city.
